Life Histroy of Prof. Lakshminarayan Mishra
Lakshminarayan Mishra had taken birth in Village Bajpur a place nearby Khordha district. His Father Pandit Narayan Mishra was a noted Freedom fighter of this district and mother Smt. Lakshmi Dibya was housewife. His parents had decided after taking holy dip in the river Godavari during their “Godavari tirtha” that they would keep the name of their son Lakshminarayan.
             After completing his primary education from his village Primary school he passed M.E Standard from Bajpur M.E School. He passed H.S.C From Chintamani Bidya Niketan, Narangarh in the year 1963. Then He joined in Banki College, Banki for Pre-University and B.A . He used to take tuition to meet the college fees so that he can read in the college, as he was poor. He passed B.A in 1967. He went to Sambalpur University For B.Ed in 1970. Then he passed M.A in 1975 in Odia. After M.A he had gone to Regional College of Education, Bhubaneswar for M.Ed in 1977. Then he was teacher in Baidweswar High School from 1967 to 1968. Then from 1968 to 1969 he was the Asst teacher of Kalapathar-Dhalapathar High School in Cuttack district. His aim was to preserve Oriya language in the odisha. He also joined at Bajpur High School from 1970-1980. He took part in the teacher’s movement in 1981. In 1984 he returned to his village and was involved in establishing Girls’ High school, small-scale industries(kutir shilpa), farm & cultivation and social welfare organisations. He was the Chief Editor of “Banajini” the yearly Magazine of High School for around two years. His Lecturer life began from 1980 in Paramananda College of Education, Bolagarh. He was inspired by Eminent Educationist Prof Satrughna Nath. He was member of the ‘Sikshyak Mahasangh’ from 1981 to 1989. He served as a Social worker in village Bajpur.


He was associated with Utkal Samilani in Khordha District. He was the President of Bajpur M.E School old boy’s Association and Banki College Union. Although he belonged to a conservative Brahmin family he was socialist. He did not accept caste and creed. He took of his sacred thread and also used to keep moustache that was against the Brahmin caste. He was a high standard Social Worker, educator, historian, poet, writer, editor and orator. His works include many essays, stories, novels, poems, biographies, travel stories, general knowledge, translation etc. His poem poems have played an important role in creating awareness towards the nation and is heart touching. His Essay’s are immortal gift for the Oriya literature. He has awarded by “Andolan”, “Odia Sahitya Parishad”, Rajiv Gandhi yuva Bahini”, “Utkalika, the premier odia daily”. He also awarded “Sikshyakratna” award from Jadumani SahityaSansad, Udaypur. He was a master of all trades. He had three sons and one daughters who were left alone after his death. He died on 1st Oct.2002.
